The Promise of Spring

With the arrival of spring, I feel a deep sense of hope to receive the warmth and energy this season brings.

After a long and difficult winter, it's easy to feel skeptical about the arrival of spring. The show of late snow, rain and cold can make us feel like we're holding our breath, waiting for that moment when we can finally inhale again.  When we can shake off the frost and step into the warmth of the sun.  When we can witness the miracles of nature before our very eyes.

It's tempting to break out the gardening tools and shed our layers, but nature can be unpredictable, and this year, I'm still waiting for my inhale.  With the relentless reappearance of cold weather here in New England, my practice of sitting with what is and not what is ahead has been challenging. Despite the unpredictable weather, I'm reminded of the power of yoga to help us navigate challenging times. Just as we hold space for what is in our practice, we can also find resilience and hope in the face of uncertainty and setbacks. Whether we're flowing through sun salutations or pausing to breathe deeply, connecting to the present moment, yoga can help us connect with our inner wisdom and find a sense of grounding amidst the noise of the world and our own lives.

Just as a seed nestled deep in the earth awaits the warming touch of spring, so too do we wait for the gentle warmth of hope to awaken our spirits. But even as we yearn to blossom, setbacks and storms may leave us questioning our strength and resilience. The fear of sprouting too soon can cause us to linger in the shadows, hesitant to reveal our tender shoots to the world. Yet with each passing day, the sun's warmth beckons us to rise up and unfurl our leaves, to embrace the beauty of our growth and the endless possibilities that await us. So let us take heart and trust in the power of our own potential, for even the tiniest seed has within it the promise of a magnificent bloom.

As we move forward into the spring season, I encourage you to take time to connect with your practice and your community.  As a part of the VBY community, know that you are not alone. We are here to support you and hold space for you as we navigate this season of change and growth.
