+ MENTOR PROGRAM

The mentor program for the 200 hour YTT is designed to provide additional support and encouragement to students throughout the training. Students will be paired with a mentor, and will connect with that mentor monthly. The mentor is a yoga teacher who has been through the VB YTT program, and/or has an understanding of the VB curriculum, and has already begun the journey of teaching yoga. Having a mentor will increase opportunities for teacher trainees to connect with yoga teachers and students within the community, and to receive guidance and feedback as they begin to enter the world of teaching yoga. As part of the program homework, students will observe, attend, and assist classes with their mentor.

Goals of Mentor Program:

  • Provide support to students going through the teacher training program, and improve their success and participation in the program.
  • Increase motivation for both mentors and mentees to grow in their own yoga practice
  • Engage and connect students and teachers with each other and the community so that they develop a sense of belonging and cooperation
  • Provide an opportunity for student teaching, with mentors offering guidance and feedback
  • Help students develop confidence in their teaching ability and their own uniques styles
  • Encourage students to reach their full potential as yoga students and aspiring teachers
  • Provide additional learning and leadership opportunity for current teachers/professionals
